The key difference between an avoidant and someone who is simply not interested is that avoidants leave but look back, while the disinterested drift and stay gone.
Key points¶
- Avoidants pull back when things get close but still show signs of caring: they ghost yet check your stories, say they need space yet react when you give it.
- Someone who is not interested does not come back, does not breadcrumb, and does not flinch when you leave -- they are done, not scared.
- The tell: the avoidant disappears while the emotion is still in the room; the disinterested one disappears and takes the air with them.
- If you are working hard to decode someone, that is your answer -- when someone wants you, you do not have to guess.
