Turn off the faucet...go no contact

When an avoidant is still orbiting your life -- watching stories, texting good morning -- the path to moving on is to stop letting their low-effort contact feed your "what ifs" and to go no contact.

Key points

  • Someone who genuinely wants to be in your life shows up in your messages and missed calls with real effort; passive orbit is not that.
  • If their breadcrumbs leave you more confused than before you received them, that is your answer.
  • They know where you are and what you want; if they are not showing up with effort, they are making a choice.
  • Going no contact is self-protection, not punishment -- mute them from your stories, cut off the distractions, protect your peace.
  • Turn off the faucet. It is not to be mean; it is to create space for the closure you need.
