The Simp Industrial Complex: The Greatest Scam Nobody Is Talking About

Channel: John Griffin (Life 2.0)
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np_PaL8b-b8

The speaker argues that corporations and government have deliberately engineered a culture ("the simp industrial complex") that makes men submissive to women in relationships, because a woman-centered household drives consumer spending, GDP, and tax revenue - and the antidote is for men to develop an internal locus of control and refuse to simp.

Key points

The scam and its story

  • Every scam needs a product, an idiot to sell it to, and a story that makes the idiot think buying was his idea. The product: the idea that men should be submissive to women and that a woman is necessary to feel whole. The idiot: men. The story: the prince-and-princess mythology.
  • Conditioning starts in childhood (Saturday-morning cartoons, Disney) and is reinforced by movies, love songs, TV: a man's purpose is to find, protect, and center his life on the princess.
  • He explicitly says this is NOT about feminism; he thinks "powerful people" and money, not gender-studies students, drove five decades of social change.

The economic engine

  • Claim: women make about 85% of household buying decisions - the "chief purchasing officer." Corporations therefore target her, not the man (a man keeps his old couch; she has already seen 500 couches on Instagram).
  • A simping man won't say no to new purchases, so keeping men submissive keeps spending high. Women are called corporations' "number one ally" and the engine behind US GDP.
  • Media reinforces the "competent woman / bumbling idiot man" trope in sitcoms and commercials (he says you have to go back to Father Knows Best in the 1950s for a competent TV husband; cites I Dream of Jeannie). This trains the woman to believe she must control decisions.

Feminism, wages, and GDP

  • Historical claim: before women entered the workforce en masse (1970s), one income sufficed. Doubling the labor supply against flat demand suppressed wages (clerical, nursing, teaching), so households soon needed two incomes.
  • GDP measures money spent, not quality of life, so bad outcomes (expensive healthcare, high deductibles, stress, therapy) still raise GDP. Government favors this because it is all taxable. "Everybody wins" except the man - and ultimately the woman too.

The relationship lifecycle

  • The "pink mist": early-relationship euphoria (oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine) that the culture teaches you to attribute to the woman as the source of all happiness. Anecdote: his Alzheimer's-stricken 81/82-year-old mother forgets his name but still asks if he has a girlfriend.
  • Core friction claim: men want the woman to stay as she was when they met; women want to change the man into an idealized "prince." Both were conditioned as children.
  • Simping erodes a woman's respect daily. Women "create arguments over nothing" to test whether he will stand up; men back down to avoid disrupting the relationship, which he says destroys it from the inside.
  • Divorce is framed as the final "economic boon": date nights, expensive dinners/vacations to save the marriage (his Bermuda cruise example), then the split itself - two households, more appliances/cars/insurance, divorce lawyers, therapy. Cites average divorce cost of 30,000-50,000 dollars.
  • He claims women are usually financially worse off after divorce (esp. divorcing near 50), while men are hit harder emotionally/psychologically.

The way out

  • Marriage failure rate exceeds 50%; adding miserable-but-financially-stuck marriages he speculates the real "failure" rate could be 80-90%, yet people keep lining up.
  • Antidote: become a fully developed man with an internal locus of control - not seeking validation, approval, or completion from outside yourself. Study men who came before you.
  • You must be genuinely willing to accept never having a wife; the drive to "perpetuate my line" is someone else's idea, not yours.
  • Refusing to simp - saying no early and often, keeping boundaries (kindly), even deleting Instagram to remove FOMO - actually raises, not lowers, the odds of a healthy relationship. Sign-off advice: "stay single."

Note: the video presents sweeping causal claims (deliberate corporate/government engineering, the 85% figure, wage-suppression history) as established fact without citing sources; they are the speaker's assertions.

Reception

  • Overwhelmingly agreeing, largely male audience; many frame the video as red-pill/manosphere "truth" and praise Griffin's ability to "peel back the onion." Top comment (227 likes): "A bachelor is a selfish, undeserving guy, who has cheated some woman out of a lucrative divorce."
  • A strong "happily single/bachelor for life" chorus: a 60-year-old retired bachelor who no longer chases, dates, or approaches ("peaceful and free"); another who finds life "WONDERFUL, single, alone, and FREE."
  • Many divorce war stories affirming the thesis: men reporting they are far better off post-divorce while ex-wives ended up worse off (one contrasts his paid-off home and retirement with his ex's low-income housing and diabetes), plus men currently losing half their house/pension who wish they had left sooner.
  • Recurring reframes offered by viewers: sitcoms as "simpcoms" and the "jackass formula" for the idiot-husband trope; "single mothers" relabeled "supported mothers"; saying no to a woman's spending being branded "abuse" on the wheel of abuse.
  • Economic angle got engagement (a viewer cites Harry Dent's "spending wave" and the 70% consumer-spending share of GDP as corroboration).
  • Pushback is minimal in the sample; a fringe of comments veer into antisemitic and anti-Marxist conspiracy claims about who runs the "complex," which most of the thread does not echo.
