The Number One Technique to Make People Chase You! | Robert Greene

A montage of Robert Greene interview clips on The Art of Seduction. (Re-titled compiled footage; his framework, not cited research. This channel runs several near-identical seduction compilations that recycle the same clips.)

Key points

  • The "friend" gambit: women have more to lose in a seduction and are wary, so a longer seduction (months) builds trust by becoming their friend, then injects the erotic element later, using the established connection as a "bridge."
  • Be a puzzle. People over-share online and are obvious; seduction needs mystery, fantasy, and theater. Present a mostly consistent persona (e.g. 95% buttoned-up banker) with a small surprising 2-5% (a little rebellious) that intrigues, like an out-of-character movie moment.
  • A seduction is a story: the other person should not know where you will take them next, so create positive surprises (gifts, places) plus the occasional engineered low.
  • The coquette/hot-and-cold strategy (~70% hot, 30% cold): the cold spells make them anxious about what they did wrong, the warmth brings relief, hooking them emotionally. The whole goal is to get them emotional about you - even dislike can be turned, but indifference cannot.
  • Looks are secondary: some of history's greatest seducers were not good-looking; it is psychology and how you carry yourself.
  • The single most powerful path: be more interested in other people. Self-absorption and insecurity are "anti-seductive"; get outside yourself, ask non-obvious questions, and get them talking about themselves.
  • The Disraeli anecdote: a dinner companion felt she herself was the most interesting person in the world - that is charm. Make them feel brilliant, not you.
  • A "brilliant technique": later, quote back something personal they said, proving (indirectly) you truly listened.
  • Be generous - with money, gifts thoughtfully tailored to the individual, and especially with your time and attention.
