The Secret Psychology of "Ignoring" a Girl¶

Withholding attention -- not responding instantly, not always being available -- makes a woman value and pursue you more, because human nature places more value on what is uncertain or less available. The video gives five reasons this works and warns it must be balanced.
Key points¶
- "Ignoring" here means withholding attention currency: not texting good-morning/good-night, not feeling pressure to reply instantly, not giving a female friend or coworker all your focus.
- Bobby's test: when a woman delays texting back or cancels plans, you want her more, not less -- the same psychology runs in reverse on her.
Five reasons it works
- Checking in signals neediness. Texts sent only for reassurance get sniffed out; always replying instantly makes your attention feel cheap (the celebrity-email analogy).
- Women equate longing with love. Constant availability deprives her of the longing she associates with romance (cites Carrie and Mr Big in Sex and the City).
- Mental challenge. Women crave a man who is hard to fully figure out; with no challenge she says "something's missing, I don't feel a spark."
- Hot-and-cold behavior is addictive, via B.F. Skinner's unpredictable/intermittent rewards (the gambling/roulette analogy). All-cold or all-warm both kill attraction; it is a balancing act.
-
Autonomy. The autonomous man naturally "ignores" a woman because he has a career, fitness, and friends he won't always drop (the example of keeping a planned run over a last-minute visit). What nice guys call "games" is just genuine autonomy.
-
Goal: let her feel she is slowly winning you over, so she chases you rather than the reverse.
Reception¶
- Largely positive and very high engagement; the top comment is a checklist of "be calm, speak less, don't always be available," and many echo "fix yourself first" and "focus on yourself and the world focuses on you."
- Notable pushback that this only works under conditions: several women commenters and others say it only works if she already finds you attractive or is invested, and not if she has other options or strong family/friend support.
- A recurring objection that the tactics are exhausting or game-playing; some prefer authenticity and "they like me for me or they can jog on," and warn it can kill attraction inside a committed relationship.
- Multiple confessional comments crediting the advice after doing the opposite and watching the predicted outcomes happen.
- Bobby replies in-thread clarifying the advice targets the initial dating phase and that attraction is a sliding scale a man moves up or down by behavior.
