Putting a woman on a pedestal makes her conclude she is the prize and lose interest; the goal is to reposition yourself as the prize she pursues. The video gives five ways to do it.
Key points¶
- Premise: treating a woman as above you makes her instinctively see you as below her. Both people want to be with the one they see as the prize, so if she is the prize, that role is taken.
Five ways to be the prize
- Unwaveringly believe you are the prize. Belief drives behavior, which makes others treat you as the prize (the college friend's "if you think you're the man... you're the man").
- Stop chasing validation. A "validation vacuum" forms when two people meet; if you stop trying to impress her, she fills it by impressing you. Show, don't tell (be adventurous rather than describe adventures); don't over-explain or justify yourself.
- Be the decision maker. Enter not automatically impressed, wanting to get to know her. Use "next level deep curiosity before validating" -- ask why she chose her path before praising it, so she works to impress you.
- Ask her for a favor. Invokes the Ben Franklin effect / effort justification: doing you a favor makes her brain conclude she must like you (the friend Doug handing girls his drink). Keep favors real, not a thin excuse to hang out.
-
Set and communicate standards. The "prize" dentist who enforced a late policy, refused to skip his process, and never chased the sale. Applied to dating: don't accept a dinner being downgraded to lunch; if she is wishy-washy, take the offer off the table.
-
Closing claim: looks/money/job are like a resume that only gets you the "interview" (more dates); perception, attitude, and reputation determine whether you are the prize once there.
Reception¶
- Generally positive and engaged; one of the most-liked comments is a numbered recap of the five steps, and several thank Bobby and call him the rare coach doing deep psychological analysis.
- A strong counter-current argues against playing games at all: block women who play mind games, focus on your own journey, just be yourself, and if she is not interested move on.
- Repeated emphasis on balance and authenticity: warnings about a "fine line between being the prize and being true to yourself," and that you should both be the prize.
- A few firsthand stories back the "stop trying to impress" point, including a man who made no effort to impress a woman and was later sought out precisely for that.
- Bobby replies in-thread stressing balance ("never uneven on either side too much") and that confessing love after three dates hurts you.
