A montage of Robert Greene interview clips on The Art of Seduction, overlapping heavily with the channel's other seduction compilations. (Re-titled compiled footage; his framework, not cited research.)
Key points¶
- Seduction is a high form of power: make people feel pleasure/excitement so their resistance lowers and you can influence them indirectly (yelling and commanding only breeds resentment).
- You secretly want seductive power: recall a time someone fell in love with you and their usual walls came down - that electricity is what you want (a non-sexual version in work and persuasion too).
- Drop the misconception that seduction is cold and villainous; it must feel natural. Everyone has a latent authentic seducer type (natural, rake, siren, ideal lover); trying too hard and "applying the 24 strategies" reads as fake.
- People are dying to be lifted out of banal daily life - seduction reaches "the child" in everyone (the joy of being picked up and twirled by a parent).
- It is non-verbal: saying "I love you" is not the language of seduction; body language and action that make someone feel loved are far more powerful.
- Disraeli (a dark-skinned Jewish man who became PM and charmed Queen Victoria) made everyone feel like the star; Errol Flynn and a Brazilian seducer Greene met in Paris worked through being completely undefensive and relaxed - "like drinking four martinis."
- The summary of a great seducer: be outer-directed - turn off the "does she like me?" monologue, listen, enter their spirit, and reflect it back with gifts and attention.
- Anti-seductive qualities: preaching/moralizing/moral superiority, insecurity (self-focus), and lack of generosity (with money, spirit, and time).
